Omeo MTB Park
Livingstone Park Trail Head
The nationally significant mountain bike project located at the base of Sam Hill (Mt Sam) is well under way. Construction is well advanced with over 50km of trails completed and in operation, with up to 100km due for completion December 2025. The trail network will ultimately provide approximately 100km of trail suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders with a combination of cross country, challenging climbs and jump runs for those who love some airtime. Trails start from outside our property.
Oriental Claims Historic Area
Starting at the Oriental Claims picnic area, cross the bridge over the creek and turn left. The track is well marked and signs along the way give interesting facts about the people who worked here, especially Ah Fong, whom this walk is named after. "Ah Fong became wealthy with his mining ventures, and then decided it was much easier running a shop adjacent to the Chinese - and then sent his wife out to work his claim!" The landscape was dramatically impacted by the method of gold extraction they used here called hydraulic sluicing. Along the walk the scenery and altitude varies because of this. The beautiful Livingstone River is by your side as you loop back towards the car park providing another quiet and scenic picnic spot.
Mount Hotham
Skiing is only 45 minutes from Omeo. Either drive and park and pay or catch the bus.
Taylors Crossing Campground
Mitta Mitta River at Taylor's Crossing . North East Victoria. Located not too far out of Benambra on from Omeo. This section of the river is easily accessible and quite different to the rest of the river which winds through step rocky forested sections. There is a cool extension bridge and beautiful walks and opportunities for fishing.
